A procession of Buddhist monks began marching around their temple right as the sunset. Billowing smoke surrounded me and their chants filled the air.

The Himalayas are sacred to the Nepalese people. Their belief that each mountain is a powerful god is at the front of my mind as I stand at the foothills of Everest, looking at the dramatic black pyramid that has captivated so many. The feeling you get while standing, surrounded by the biggest peaks on earth, is nothing short of spiritual.

Snow being blown off a ridge on Lhotse by hurricane force winds. On the ground there was no wind and it was -10°C, I can only imagine how cold it was all the way up there.

Some of these mountains (especially Everest) are so tall that they poke into the jet stream, causing extreme winds and weather patterns when it lines up.

The bustling streets, friendly locals, and stunning temples kept me busy with my camera for days on end.

Nepal was one of my favourite stops of 2023. From the food, to the rich culture and spectacular Himalayas, Nepal checked all the boxes.
